Village Life

During my internship with the Office of Village Life in Ottawa Hills, I was tasked with creating many designs for various marketing purposes of events, camps, and other local happenings. Because many of the camps and events revolve around children, I strived to create playful and youthful designs that are full of color and whimsicality. These designs are used for social media posts, email marketing, and are even printed on apparel.

Summer Camp '22 Logo

When discussing our vision for the 2022 Village Life summer camp logo, myself and the director of Village Life imagined something clean yet spirited. With a sophisticated but colorful palette, pennant flag motifs, and bold type, I ended up with two logo versions the capture the essence of the Village Life summer programs. Below you can view the two final products along with process sketches.

Safety Village Logo

In need of a new logo, the Safety Village program is a week-long summer class for incoming kindergarteners that aims to help children learn and understand good and proper safety habits. Keeping the age of class participants in mind, the goal of the new logo was to reflect symbols of the class in an easy and recognizable way. The road sign symbols strongly tie into the theme, and the green "village" sign is inspired by the street signs of the Ottawa Hills neighborhood. This logo is used on social media, for other marketing materials to promote the annual program, and is printed on t-shirts for every Safety Village graduate.

Summer Camp '19 Logo

For the 2019 Village Life summer camp logo, I wanted to put my illustration skills to the test with my Wacom Tablet and hand draw a design that captures the fun and playfulness of Village Life summer programs. In addition to the main summer camp logo (left), a second version with a different color palette was created to share during the Fourth of July.
